The securities market plays a pioneering role in the national economy by reconciling the differing needs of savers and borrowers. Savers seek a low-risk repository in which to deposit their funds, providing an investment return that protects the real value of their wealth over the long term, in addition to generating current income. Borrowers, on the other hand, require access to financial flows to finance their current and anticipated financial and capital obligations in the short and medium term. The success of this role depends on the progress of the economy and the level of development of the financial market.
