The Al-Baydar Center for Studies and Planning and the Ruwaq Baghdad Center for Public Policy collaborated on a sociological study project titled: (Difference Breeds Difference: Primary and Parallel Social Structures in Sadr City) authored by Dr. Adnan Sabih, with review and introduction by Dr. Alaa Hameed and Dr. Osama Al-Shabib.<\/p>\n
This book presents a comprehensive study of Sadr City, located in eastern Baghdad. It serves as a highly revealing social model that significantly reflects Iraqi society at large, owing to its distinct and simultaneously important social structures and formations.<\/p>\n
The study adopted an anthropological methodology based on field research residency and the employment of observation to identify the cultural and social patterns governing the perceptions of community members. In light of the presence of tribes, social groups, and political formations, the study observes and analyzes the social characteristics of these relationships. Consequently, this book is regarded as a foundational starting point for post-Al-Wardi sociological studies.<\/p>\n
Building upon the aforementioned, the two centers embarked on this ambitious project through multiple phases, encompassing diverse geographic and demographic areas. The ultimate goal is that, upon the project’s conclusion, the fundamental characteristics of Iraqi society will become clearly delineated, revealing the full extent of the changes and transformations it has experienced.<\/p>\n
