It emphasizes that this subject cannot be properly discussed without a deep and coherent understanding of that history\u2014beyond superficial readings or cursory reflections.<\/p>\n<p>Despite the pivotal importance of this conflict in Islamic history, the author points out that modern scholarship has not devoted sufficient research and analysis to it.
